Ultimate Processing With AMD Ryzen 7 5800h : Specs And Benchmarks

The Ryzen 7 5800H is manufactured at TSMC’s modern seven-nanometer manufacturing facility, just like the outgoing Ryzen 7 4800H; both use 8 cores and 16 threads. The processor architecture, however, is very different, with the 5800H relying on Zen 3 instead of Zen 2.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800H is a mighty octa-core processor from the Cezanne family. It was introduced in early 2021; and focused on large laptops, in particular, gaming and DTR.

This is the second Ryzen 5000 mobile APU we have worked with so far. We’ve already tested the Ryzen 9 5980HS on the impressive Asus ROG Flow X13 ultraportable laptop and found it to perform quite well, but in this review, we’ll focus on this high-performance chip for a mainstream laptop.

AMD Promising Stealth Performance

The newer architecture, AMD promised, will deliver up to a 19% increase in performance per MHz. Independent tests give a more petite figure, about 12% too good.AMD started sales of the Ryzen 7 5800H on January 7, 2021. This is a laptop processor based on the Cezanne-H (Zen 3) architecture, primarily designed for office systems. It has 8 cores and 16 threads and is based on 7nm manufacturing technology, with a maximum frequency of 4400 MHz and a locked multiplier.

Modern architecture and modern seven-nanometer manufacturing make the Ryzen 7 5800H a very energy-efficient processor. Its nominal TDP (also known as Power Limit for long-term loads) is 45 W, while the laptop manufacturer can set its value within 35…54 watts depending on its goals. One way or another, a laptop or nettop with such a processor needs a serious cooling system.

The Ryzen in question is just a song, it will give good performance in absolutely any task. In terms of multi-threaded workload, the average 5800H from our database directly competes with the Core i7-11800H, Core i5-12500H, Core i7-12650H, Core i9-11950H, and AMD Ryzen 9 4900H, and therefore will provide its owner with performance headroom for years and years ahead.

It has eight Zen 3 processor cores with SMT support, which operate at a frequency of 3.2 to 4.4 GHz. There is an integrated graphics adapter, Vega 8; the size of the third-level cache in the 5800H is 16 MB.

Ryzen 7 5800H – Accelerated Processing Unit

RyzThe Ryzen 7 5800H is another new Zen 3-based APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) that will be the heart of AMD’s gaming laptop platform and, like the 4800H before it, we expect It is the most popular processor in the series, found in a wide variety of laptop models.

The Ryzen 7 5800H features an 8-core unified CCX and twice the L3 cache of the 4800H. Zen 3 also increases the IPC for the CPU cores, and AMD may slightly increase the clock spee

d of these chips despite using the same TSMC 7nm process node. However, the 5800H retains many of the same features outside of the processor, from the memory controller to PCIe support.

The Ryzen 7 5800H has an 8-core, 16-thread unlocked design with 16MB of L3 cache. On the CPU side, we’re looking at a base clock of 3.2GHz and a boost of 4.4GHz, and it’s at these clock speeds that the 5800H falls below the flagship 5900HX and 5980HX. On the GPU side, we get an unlocked Vega design with 8 compute units included, clocked at up to 2.0 GHz.

Affordable Laptop With Ryzen 7 5800H

The Apex 17 is a classic entry-level laptop, aimed at mid- to entry-level buyers who want something basic with the best performance they can get for their money. There’s plenty of cooling here, and if you choose a custom fan curve, the Apex can run almost silently without sacrificing performance. Inside, there’s an RTX 3060 with up to 115W base power, 16GB of DDR4-3200 memory, and a 1080p 144Hz display. This laptop configuration would be a good choice if you’re a budget-conscious buyer who wants a performance-oriented computer. design.

Ryzen 7 5800H Hardware Performance

The officially supported maximum memory frequency is 4266 MHz, but with overclocking (and appropriate memory modules) you can go even higher. The Ryzen 7 5800H uses PCI-Express Gen 3 connectivity to communicate with other system components, and this processor is equipped with Radeon Vega 8 integrated graphics.

Hardware virtualization is available on the Ryzen 7 5800H, dramatically improving virtual machine performance. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) can run on this processor, improving the performance of computationally intensive applications. In addition to AVX, AMD also includes the new AVX2 standard, but not AVX-512.

Of course, to ensure maximum performance, you need processor Power Limits generously set by the laptop manufacturer, as well as solid power and cooling systems.

Memory Compatibility

In terms of compatibility, it is an AMD Socket FP6 processor with a TDP of 54W. It supports DDR4, DDR4 memory. The Ryzen 7 5800H is geared towards DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-4266 memory. Unlike the five thousandth Ryzen for desktop computers, the Ryzen 7 5800H is not PCI-Express 4.0 friendly; instead, there are several PCI-Express 3.0 lanes for connecting discrete graphics cards, data storage devices, and other types of devices. Four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes will provide data processing speeds of up to 3.9 GB/s, if, of course, an appropriately fast SSD is used.

Graphical Usage Of AMD Ryzen 7 5800h:

Vega 8 has eight Compute Units (8 x 64 = 512 unified shaders). In the case of the Ryzen 7 5800H, this graphics adapter operates at up to 2 GHz.

Formally, Vega 8 is inferior in speed to the 96-block Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7. But AMD graphics drivers are better for most games than Intel’s; as a result, Vega 8 will allow you to play many games of 2020 and 2021 in resolutions up to Full HD 1080p and Low, sometimes Medium quality. Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs well in 1080p resolution and High quality, for example. Generous CPU Power Limits, good power, and good cooling, as well as good system RAM in sufficient amounts, are essential to achieve good graphics performance. Vega 8 does not have video memory.

The GPU in question supports UHD 2160p monitors, but not SUHD 4320p. It can hardware decode videos of popular AVC, HEVC, MPEG-2, and VP9 formats, but not AV1. AV1 video will be decoded by processor cores, resulting in more power consumption.

Note that this processor cannot be replaced independently. As the name of its socket (FP6) suggests, the 5800H is supposed to be permanently soldered to the motherboard instead of installed in a socket.
